Director, Deputy Chief Investment Officer (Stamford, CT)

The Director, Deputy Chief Investment Officer is responsible for the full spectrum of investment related activities for the US firm’s qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, including investment strategy development, portfolio construction, investment manager evaluation and selection, and performance and regulatory reporting.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), the position has three primary functions related to the firm’s investment activities : (1) develops and provides investment strategy recommendations; (2) manages all operational aspects of the investment plans and strategy; and (3) leads two or three direct reports.

Your key responsibilities :

  • Address complex, unique problems specific to pension / retirement plans, ensuring compliance with internal control frameworks and legal requirements.
  • Analyze new legal and regulatory developments impacting EY’s retirement plans / investment strategy.
  • Oversee compliance with firm and regulatory policies, focusing on process improvement and policy development regarding investments.
  • Optimize investment performance of assets, considering benchmarks and risk parameters.
  • Prepare monthly rebalancing recommendations incorporating current and future cash flows for CIO approval.
  • Lead and manage special projects.
  • Manage all performance measurement, including developing policy benchmarks and peer group comparisons.
  • Ensure retirement plans have adequate liquidity to meet benefit obligations timely.

To qualify for the role, you must have :

  • 10 years of applicable experience.
  • Specialty knowledge on pension accounting, funding regulations, and capital market developments.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable SEC, AICPA and Americas / Global Independence rules and policies.
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a related field; MBA and / or CFA preferred.
  • Ability to travel 15% to 30% as needed.
  • What we offer :

    We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $192,900 to $382,000. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

    Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client-serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
