Responsibilities
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, between 7:30am and 4:30pm
ER is Sunday - Saturday, various 8 to 12 hour shifts, not to exceed 40 hours per week
Core Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Greets patients/visitors at a front desk, information center or office setting.
- Answers main office phone line. Directs telephone calls to appropriate section for assistance. Takes messages as required.
- Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services. Determine patient eligibility, schedule appointments, relay general instructions to patients, or make referrals to other sections.
- Obtains updates and files medical records as needed.
- Organizes and researches patient records, extract needed information, and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines.
- Ensures arrival of medical records prior to appointment(s).
- Initiates and locates patient medical records as needed.
- Obtains documentation as requested by healthcare providers (test results, or documentation not yet filed in records).
- Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical care and operational support.
- Creates appointment schedules and templates in patient appointment computer system.
- Conducts end-of-day process at close of business and resolves any delinquent or pending appointments in computer system.
- Liaison with local hospitals such as the Veterans Administration Southern Nevada Healthcare System and surrounding community hospitals. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with patients, and base organizations to coordinate base access etc., medical professional network and community resources, and TRICARE.
Specific military systems include, but are not limited to:
The MHS GENESIS, A ICD programs, government data repositories such as P2R2 Virtual Analyst, M2 Data Mart, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Population Health Operational Tracking and Optimization System, Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), Medical Expense and Performance Reporting System, Third Part Collections, Defense Pharmacy System, Radiology and PACS, Automated Business Services System and Commanders’ Resource Integration System.MHS GENESISDefense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS);Military Filing System – by sponsor social security, terminal digit order, color-coded and blocked filing system.Contents of a military medical record, layout, sections, and family members prefix designation, forms used in an MTF, and the medical record tracking procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Medical terminology desired.* Experience: At least 12 months of experience in office setting.
* Knowledge and Skills required:
- A fully qualified typist with a minimum of 50 WPM is required.
- General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- General office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Licensure/Certification: BLS required.
* Life Support Certification: Possess and maintain a current BLS.* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
