Researcher/Scanner Technician at Library of Congress (Washington, DC)
ERS-Environmental Record Search (www.reccheck.com) is looking for three part or full time employees (the part time position is perfect for students, house persons, retired persons due to flexible schedule ) to be a part or full-time employee for ERS (employment not associated with the Library of Congress in anyway!) at the following location(report to work here):
The Library of Congress
Adams Building, (for ERS)
101 Independence Ave, SE
Washington, DC 20540 Library Research
The part time position will work 16-22 hours a week and the full time 35-40 hours a week during open hours of the LOC unless needed to fill in for someone sick or on vacation (this seldom happens). We will provide details on research/scanning projects via e-mail, text messages and Google assignment sheets. Each project will take about 1 to 2 hours of actual work time once trained and efficient (you will have time waiting for books to be pulled to work on special projects for ERS or the next project or the scanning of full directories). In most cases you will work with our other staff at the Library to complete projects. As an employee of ERS You will be required to use a time tracking software called TimeDoctor.com (please go to the website and make sure you are comfortable with this). Shifts are during the open hours of the Adams Library main reading room (ERS's office and where you would report to work). You will report to work and employment is at the Library of Congress for ERS. You will report to the LOC to start and end your shift. You will be assigned what you are working daily and you will receive a schedule when necessary. You may set work times for the week if that works for you.
You need to have a decent digital camera or phone to take pictures of pages from books and in some cases maps at the library (Many cell phone cameras work great) when our provided scanners cannot be used. Your main equipment will be ERS's scanner and laptop kit. Once you receive the basic training, you will be checked out a scanner and laptop kit in a backpack to take home. This ERS owned equipment will be your responsibility (as part of your employment, you will be required to sign a document of responsibility for the ERS equipment)! You need to have a cell phone connection and/or internet to send us the pictures and/or scans with unlimited data on your phone if need be. There is an availability for occasional work on Saturdays, nights and flexibility during the work week.
Of course ERS will train you on how to conduct the research and scan. It is not complicated but, the work is very interesting and perfect for an administrative person, STUDENT or Homemaker and/or someone whom only wants to work part time! The part time position is perfect to make extra spending money and is very flexible.
