ERSG is currently looking for a Yard Manager for a leading logistics company for oversized and complicated projects related to transportation based out of Providence, Rhode Island or Albany, New York.

This company is a transportation service provider specializing in large infrastructure projects - specifically offshore wind in the EU and US. With offices in Antwerp, BE; Cape Town, ZA; and Charlottesville, VA, the company has a strong track record providing full logistics packages for fabricators / OEMS, T&I contractors, EPCIs, and project developers. The company has been involved in the European offshore wind industry since 2009, and the US offshore wind market since 2020 – earning a well-respected reputation due to the numerous successful projects delivered.
POSITION OVERVIEW :
The company’s scope for the Sunrise Wind (SRW01) project involves the load-out, barge transport, and load-in or secondary steel foundation components. Cargo to be loaded-out from Fabrication Harbor (Port of Coeymans – Ravena, NY) and transported to Marshalling Harbor (ProvPort – Providence, RI).
The Yard Manager will be based full-time in the project area (Northeast US) and travel between the Fabrication Harbor and Marshalling Harbor during operations. Operations are expected to commence March-2025 and run continuously for approximately six (6) months – until all secondary steel cargos are delivered to Marshalling Harbor. in total, there should be fourteen (14) total loadouts, barge trips, and load-ins to deliver all cargos.
The Yard Manager role, responsibilities, and requirements are further detailed below. Overall, the Yard Manager will serve as the company’s local representative to initiate, manage, oversee, and document all operations in accordance with project planning documents (MST); interface with local project stakeholders; and support the Project Manager in achieving required deliverables related to schedule, cost, risk and quality. The Yard Manager will also be expected to support the project team prior to commencement of operations with necessary planning activities (meetings, site walks, subcontractor management / readiness, etc).
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
On-Site Operations Management
Execute project logistics strategy at the Fabrication and Marshalling Harbors – planning and coordinating load-out / load-in of the cargosTracking barge movement and scheduleTrack operations schedule and cargo locations - report updates to stakeholders; take action to stay within schedule baselineManage subcontractor performance per statement of work – stevedores, crane and rigging, heavy haulMonitor subcontractors to ensure adherence to performance and quality control standardsEnsuring all subcontractors understand the operations plan and their responsibilities during its executionSupervise and document operationsOn-Site Quality Management :
Confirm safe and proper handling during operations in accordance project planning documentsCargo inspection and damage reportingEquipment inspection and reportingAccident investigation, incident reporting and root cause analysisIdentifying, investigating and reporting any in-transit variances prior to commencing load-in operationsEnsuring all cargo and equipment in good order prior to load-out operations, and working to secure COA from MWS prior to barge departurePhysical inventory of cargosReporting and Project Management Assistance :
