Overview of the Concepts:
Over the past year, Garrett Harker and ES Hospitality have been busy opening several exciting hospitality venues just steps from Kenmore Square and Fenway Park. Among these is the return of Eastern Standard Kitchen and Drinks, the craft cocktail bar, Equal Measure and the group’s newest concept, Standard Italian. Best known for Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster Bar and The Hawthorne, Garrett is once again bringing enlightened hospitality and high energy operations to the Fenway neighborhood. Garrett is joined by Beverage Director Jackson Cannon and Culinary Director Brian Rae in the operation of these concepts.
About the Position:
The Eastern Standard Sous Chef is a dynamic role for someone eager to tackle a new challenge. In this role you will assist the Culinary Director and fellow Sous Chefs in leading a talented back of house team responsible for not only the Eastern Standard Kitchen, but also the culinary program at Eastern Standard’s sister cocktail bar, Equal Measure as well as a robust private events program. Applicants should have a genuine love of hospitality and food, a strong work ethic and an eagerness to grow professionally through collaboration with talented food and beverage colleagues in a multi-concept setting.
Responsibilities include:

BOH staff training and mentoring

Overseeing and taking a hands-on role in prep and production

Expediting service and ensuring stations run smoothly

Troubleshooting and problem solving as necessary

Ordering and inventory
In order to be successful in this role you must:

Have strong organizational and leadership skills

Be able to direct and inspire a dynamic BOH team

Be able to multitask, adapt as needed, and work well under pressure

Have advanced training in culinary operations and at least 2 years experience in BOH restaurant management
