What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Services Supervisor - Auxilary Service Programs position at ESC of Lake Erie West?
JOB SUMMARY
The ASP Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating staff in the Auxilary Services Program (ASP) Program. The Supervisor ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and educational standards and maintains all program records that document compliance. The Supervisor provides technical assistance to educational clients related to general and special education issues to ensure success for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ohio State Board of Education Principal, or other administrative license
Ohio State Board of Education Intervention Specialist/Education of the Handicapped or Pupil Services license
Three years experience working with students with disabilities
Master’s Degree in administration or special education preferred
Experience in supervising/evaluating professional staff preferred
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of Ohio’s Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities
Knowledge of the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code as it relates to specific educational programs being supervised (e.g. ASP, intervention services); Ability to interpret and follow local, state and federal regulations, policies and procedures
Knowledge of the scholarship programs available to private and parochial school students with special needs (e.g., Jon Peterson Scholarship, Autism Scholarship)
Knowledge of FERPA and HIPPA
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate, effective intervention practices.
Knowledge of current educational issues and best practices
Ability to provide program leadership
Ability to supervise, evaluate and motivate staff
Ability to work with team to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate program progress and implement changes
Ability to organize an effective program of professional development for program staff
Ability to work with professional staff to demonstrate ways of supporting students in the regular classroom
Ability to prepare budget recommendations
Ability to organize and maintain accurate program records and prepare reports as requested
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to facilitate collaboration with private, parochial, and public school district administrators.
Ability to effectively use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; Ability to effectively use different computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Docs
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, co-workers, administrators, and public
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to model ethical principles and democratic ideals for students and the community
