What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Services Consultant position at ESC Region 8?
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of five years teaching in the field of Special Education or General Education with documented expertise in serving students with disabilities
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in the field of Special Education
Specialized knowledge in UDL, Specially Designed Instruction, Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners, Educational Intervention/Coaching and Inclusive Practices
Recommended by the Executive Director
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find appropriate and acceptable
Process all personal timekeeping, travel reporting and other paperwork in a timely manner
Maintain professional attire and grooming appropriate for specific job position.
Demonstrate punctual and regular attendance on the job

Provide High Quality Technical Assistance and Professional Development in the areas of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, Least Restrictive Environment, Specially Designed Instruction, Inclusion, Co-Teach, Universal Design for Learning, modifications, and accommodations
Provide High Quality Technical Assistance and Professional Development to ensure that students with disabilities demonstrate progress in the grade-level Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) by incorporating Research Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) to implement Differentiated and Specially Designed Instruction across the continuum of instructional settings
Create, track, and maintain metrics for network activities
Evaluate the impact of training, products and services on the performance of students receiving special education services
Participate in designated local and state (e.g. networks, accountability) professional development activities, share information with ESC staff and appropriate regional personnel
Travel (meaning to drive one’s own vehicle) to and from LEAs to fulfill program and project specifications are required. Out of region travel may also be required. Coordinate and deliver effective training, staff development, and technical assistance in areas pertinent to the program or project.
Process required paperwork and reports in a timely manner
Model effective uses of technology in personal productivity and instructional applications
Additional projects as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.

This is an at-will employment position.
In the event of an economic slump, a reduction-in-force may be necessary. Employees will be notified in writing.
