Job Overview
The Escambia County Regional Child Advocacy Center, Inc. currently has a full-time Forensic Interviewer Position and is seeking an interviewer with at least one year of experience working with children and families. The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: establishing trusting and supporting relationships with clients; conducting forensic interviews; crisis intervention; victim assistance; providing referrals for community resources; case tracking and case management; working in a multidisciplinary setting; serving as a liaison between multidisciplinary team members; assistance with special events/fundraisers; and assistance with day-to-day tasks. The salary is commensurate with education, experience, and professional background.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews with children and families to gather relevant information for assessments and case evaluations.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to support individuals in distress during the interview process.
- Apply conflict management skills to navigate challenging conversations and ensure a respectful dialogue.
- Collaborate with child protective services and other agencies to facilitate comprehensive evaluations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of interviews, and recommendations in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Provide support and resources to families based on identified needs related to child welfare and behavioral health.
- Stay informed about current trends in family law, social work practices, and child protective services policies.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a professional or volunteer capacity is preferred.
- Strong skills in crisis management, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention are essential.
- Knowledge of behavioral health issues affecting children and families is a plus.
- A commitment to supporting the well-being of children and families through empathetic engagement.
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, human development, or related field is required. Candidate must have strong organizational and rapport building skills. Candidate must be proficient in computer skills (i.e., Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.). Candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills; ability to multi-task; ability to handle confidential information; and the ability to think strategically and work independently. Experience working at a child advocacy center, public speaking and grant writing are preferred, but not required.
