The Millwork Division Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a fast-paced millwork shop, ensuring efficient production, timely delivery, and exceptional quality. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong woodworking knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in production management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Production Management:
Strategize and coordinate production schedules, goals and planning with Division Manager.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all aspects of production to meet customer deadlines and quality standards.
- Optimize workflow and production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Oversee coordination between shop and field work ensuring quality standards are maintained.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, coordinating with purchasing to ensure adequate supplies.
- Implement and enforce quality and workflow control procedures at each stage of production.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor production staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure accountability.
- Enforce company policies and safety regulations.

- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in production processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Stay informed about industry trends and new technologies.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 years of experience in a millwork or woodworking environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of woodworking techniques, machinery, and materials. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate effectively, and foster a positive work environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, customers, and vendors.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve production issues effectively.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Experience with production management software is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:
