Summary of Position: Under the supervision of the Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator, theEarly Childhood Intervention/Developmental Specialist will be responsible for providing support to the center staff, parents, and all children, including children with developmental delays or disabilities, to ensure they can learn and thrive in an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • · Works on-site between our two locations and checks in daily with Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator and Site Supervisors.
  • · Assists with individualized services for children with developmental delays or disabilities based on their needs and goals.
  • Provide 1:1 classroom support for children with behavioral social-emotion needs, including assisting with transitions, activities, and self-regulation, as outlined in individualized plans or staff consultations as needed.
  • · Conducts classroom observations based on concerns from screenings, assessments, parental or staff concerns per assignment from Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator.
  • · Assists Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator with the completion of Positive Behavioral Support Plans and assisting teachers on the implementation of the plan.
  • · Assists Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator, Site Supervisors, and teachers in making adaptations and accommodations, while coaching staff to meet the needs and goals of each child.
  • · Discuss the progress of the child(ren) with Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator, Site Supervisors, and teacher(s) as needed.
  • · Assist Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator with initiating and completing referrals for further evaluation or services for families and children.
  • · Maintains updated documentation for children with inclusion needs as required.
  • · Attend trainings about current trends in inclusion support, developmental, and behavioral needs.
  • · Advocates, as appropriate, for the rights of the children with disabilities or additional needs and their families.
  • · Works cooperatively with the Site Supervisor and all other staff to assist with center responsibilities, such as classroom, kitchen or outdoors as needed.
  • · Attends site staff meetings, staff in-service, and other required company meetings and trainings as needed.
  • · Any other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator or Program Director.
  • · Assists teacher(s) in implementing daily classroom activities and expectations, to create a high-quality supportive environment.

Qualifications:

  • · Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early-Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a closely related field.
  • · 1-2 years’ of experience working with children, birth to five years old in early learning environments (preschool, infant/toddler, Head Start, etc.).
  • · 1-2 years’ experience working with young children with developmental delays, challenging behaviors, or social-emotional needs.
  • · Child Development ECE units preferred, Teaching permit highly desirable
  • · Current licenses and/or certifications in fields related to the position are highly desirable
  • · Preferred: Training in trauma-informed care, Teaching Pyramid Model, Conscious Discipline, or early childhood special education.
  • · Ability to understand and implement IEPs, IFSPs, and various developmental plans
  • · Ability to write detailed and objective observations and notes
  • · Strong caseload and time management skills
  • · Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
  • · Experience working in an early childhood classroom setting
  • · Ability to work with and coach others
  • · Bilingual skills preferred

  • · Ability to lift 50lbs and carry the load at least 100 yards

  • · Generally, performs work in a climate-controlled office or childcare center setting which may occasionally create an exposure to dust and pollens.
  • · Sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk, bend at the waist and knees, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance frequently. Occasionally lifts, carries, and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • · Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies.
  • · Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration, and analytical thinking.
  • · Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of office equipment, machines and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace. Frequently is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle and abide by all vehicular laws.
  • · Must be able to hear, see including peripheral vision and distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins.
  • · The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet office setting to moderate in childcare centers.

Interaction

This position will interact closely with the Early Childhood Developmental Coordinator, Executive Director, Program Director, HR Manager, Site Supervisors, Assistant Site Supervisors, Teachers and Teacher Assistants, CEP consultant and staff, administrative support staff, families, and other public and private sector representatives.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
