Job Title: Accelerated Spanish Program & Learning Specialist
Job Class: Full-Time, Faculty, Exempt
Reports to: 2-8th Principal

Position Overview
The Accelerated Spanish Program Specialist is responsible for providing targeted Spanish
language support to students through a pull-out instructional model. This role ensures that
students at varying proficiency levels receive structured and effective language development
support in alignment with EBI’s mission, IB program standards, and best practices for language
acquisition. The specialist collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to foster an
inclusive and engaging learning environment where students thrive linguistically and
academically.
General Responsibilities Work closely with the Director of Student Learning and Social Emotional Programs and
the Grade 2-8 Principal to seek ways to reach success for the most significant number of
EBI learners.
- Design, implement, and evaluate an accelerated Spanish language support program for
- Provide individualized and small-group pull-out instruction to students based on their
- Guide the Teachers and parents through the early detection and diagnostic process and
- Manage a caseload of all students with Individual Education Plans, supporting the
learning necessary for the success of each student with an IAP.
- Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, adjusting
- Support Teachers in differentiating learning strategies to reach a wide range of learners
- Chair the Middle School student support follow-up meetings.
- Work alongside the other Learning Specialists, ensuring continuity of services across
- Communicate student progress and language development strategies with parents and
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, interventions, and program
effectiveness.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
- Complete preliminary diagnostics and observations to determine when to refer a student
to external specialists for diagnostic testing, and then coordinate the process with the
parents when it becomes necessary.
- Create/update all Individual Education Plans (IEP) once per year, generally in
parents, as necessary, during the process and collect the required signatures.
- Read, interpret, and translate educational testing into appropriate accommodations
- Share the Individual Education Plan with teachers working with the students on the
- Work effectively with an assigned caseload of students, providing direct support
needs.
- Facilitate small group testing for students with accommodations.
- Provide engaging, student-centered instruction that fosters language proficiency and
- Encourage and facilitate meaningful language interactions among students to enhance
- Assess students in the Accelerated Spanish program with IB standards and language
acquisition & development.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and intervention outcomes
- Align Spanish language support with IB language acquisition goals and EBI’s curriculum.
- Develop and refine instructional materials that support accelerated language learning.
- Ensure differentiation strategies are embedded within instructional planning and delivery.
- Lead student support meetings and share information with all student learning team
members (student, parent, teachers, outside professionals) as necessary to ensure
learning team cohesion and support the student’s progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and invite their

Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Spanish, Linguistics, or a related
- Master’s degree in education, special education, or educational therapy is strongly
- Minimum of three years experience in education
- Experience interpreting neuropsychological evaluations, IEPs from the public school
sector, and related educational assessment tools to assist with interpreting scores,
implementing accommodations, allocating resources, and helping teachers and families
understand their students’ learning needs.
- Excellent writing, communication, and teamwork skills
- Must be organized and detail-oriented and exhibit technical/computer skills as required
- Experience in language instruction, preferably in a bilingual or immersion setting.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English, with strong communication skills in both languages.
- Knowledge of best practices in second-language acquisition and differentiated
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment strategies, and instructional
- Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students,

EBI uses a salary scale that is based on education and years of experience and ranges
from $66,783 to $110,749
