Position Summary
The Summer Resident Director will share in the responsibility of making each student, conference, and program participant feel welcome on Penn’s campus. The Summer Resident Director acts as a university liaison and campus resource for up to 200 students residing in on-campus housing during the summer months and manages up to 10 Summer Community Advisors. Additionally, the SRD will assist the SCAs in designing community building experiences, social events, design educational experiences (i.e., Resume Writing, Managing Peers, etc.).
This position requires administrative, programming, and judicial duties pertaining to your residents. This is a live-in position. Free on-campus housing, and meal plan are provided. This position serves in a weekly duty rotation for after-hours student issues. The Summer Resident Director's required duties include but are not limited to overseeing the Summer Community Advisors. Establish and maintain relationships with residents. Be sensitive and aware of potential issues and how to address them in a supportive manner. Create community building and professional development programming that supports the needs of summer residents. Respond to residents’ academic, social, and personal concerns / questions in a timely manner. Serve as an advocate for the student’s needs and concerns. Balance the student voice with the institutional needs.

Requirements
Current or incoming graduate student in good standing . Residential Life or other Student Affairs experience preferred. Should possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to adapt well to unexpected situations. Must take direction well and promote a team atmosphere. knowledge of the area surrounding the University of Pennsylvania is preferred. Must represent the University of Pennsylvania in a positive manner and be able to work collaboratively with students, administrators, and other members of the Penn community.
Required Training : Complete all training, background screenings, and other pre-employment credentials required by BOLD Summers and the state of Pennsylvania.

Essential Job Responsibilities

The Resident Director will report to the BOLD Summers full-time director and Associate Director of Operations within Penn Hospitality Services.
