Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal equipment, including small tools, vehicles, and large garbage trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and operational condition.
- Replace or repair defective parts, components, and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Collaborate with other technicians and shop staff to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in ordering and inventory management of parts and supplies.
- Provide support in emergency repair situations as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive repair preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive repair, preferably with municipal or heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
