Brief Description
ESG Operations, an Inframark Company, is hiring a Wastewater Operator in Training in Warner Robins, GA. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility.
Schedule: 7 am - 7 pm or 7pm to 7am, rotating shift, weekends and holidays as required
Duties And Responsibilities
Requires high school diploma or GED. Prefer the equivalent of one year of college or specialized vocational training in chemistry, wastewater treatment, or a closely related field. Wastewater treatment operations experience and minimum certification preferred. If not certified must obtain certification within 1 year of employment. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.
Knowledge Of
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis.
The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.
The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Collect samples and perform tests such as MLSS, pH, or DO; analyzes results and make process control changes based on results.
- Calibrate bench top and field meters to include; pH, dissolved oxygen, ORP, ammonia and gas detectors and take meter readings periodically.
- Document readings, test results, equipment adjustments and enter data into computer database for record maintenance and to produce periodic and special reports for designated regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and observe treatment process for offensive matter; inspect equipment and monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Clean clarifiers and other basins
- Ensure plant operates as efficiently as possible while maintaining effluent discharge within permit limits set by regulatory agency.
- Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policies
- Work harmoniously with peers, supervisors, and the public and comply with company policies.

- Techniques, principles and practices of laboratory analysis
- Safety practices, procedures and equipment used
- Handling or using machines, tools, equipment or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items such as pumps, mixers, blowers, or laboratory equipment.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Prepare routine records and logs
- Perform mathematical computations
- Visually discern color variations
- Work emergency duty during non-scheduled work hours
