We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Battery CAD Design and Packaging Engineer to join our expanding team. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing the development and integration of battery systems within our electric vehicles. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless compatibility and functionality across vehicle systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the design of battery packaging and components, ensuring seamless integration with vehicle systems.
- Oversee the engineering of parts and assemblies, focusing on feasibility, manufacturability, and system compatibility.
- Manage the integration of battery attributes and requirements at the vehicle level.
- Identify and address integration and design challenges throughout the vehicle development process.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings to collaborate with teams across product development, systems, packaging, manufacturing, and service.
- Manage technical specifications and functional targets for vehicle development, ensuring alignment with battery design requirements.
- Establish and evaluate vehicle-level targets, assessing functional requirements at each development phase.
- Provide guidance and constraints to development engineers as the product evolves.
- Conduct benchmarking, performance evaluations, and manage aspects related to weight, durability, and reliability of battery systems and components.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 6 years of experience in vehicle development, or a combination of education and relevant experience totaling 10 years.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 or similar CAD software.
- Proven track record in developing or packaging battery systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle technicalities, development processes, and technical target setting.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, and EPA requirements.
- Adaptability and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
