ESI is now hiring a Certified K-8 School Counselor in the Coral Gables, FL area.
POSITION SUMMARY:
ESI is seeking a Certified K-8 School Counselor who performs administrative work in the academic operational area of the organization and develops a comprehensive counseling program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree from accredited college or university in Guidance and Counseling or School Counseling required.
- Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in School Counseling K-12 or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status required.
- ESE and Gifted endorsements preferred.
- Experience in a public-school setting or counseling environment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, push a cart, or lift during the entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including small packages and supplies.
- Ability to pass Level 2 background check.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements a comprehensive counseling program that aligns with state guidelines.
- Plans and implements the counseling program to address the academic, career, and personal/social needs of every student.
- Coordinates the delivery of an annual needs assessment for the counseling program.
- Delivers the four program components: the counseling curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support.
- Provides short-term individual and group counseling opportunities for students to promote school success, personal growth, self-understanding, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Provide guidance on course selection, academic policies, and graduation requirements.
- Assist students in identifying and overcoming academic challenges, such as time management, study skills, and test anxiety.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate support services and resources for students.
- Conduct workshops and seminars on topics related to academic success, career planning, and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress towards academic goals.
- Stay informed about educational trends, academic programs, and career opportunities to better support student needs.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
- Any other duties as assigned.
