Job Description:
Eskola, LLC – The Charlotte, North Carolina branch is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team! The Sheet Metal Installation Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components for commercial roofing systems, ensuring precision, durability, and weather resistance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Interpretation:
- Measure, cut, bend, and install sheet metal for commercial roofing applications, including flashing, coping, gutters, downspouts, and other metal components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications to ensure accurate installations.
Fabrication & Assembly:
- Remove and discard old roofing materials.
- Prepare surfaces for new roofing and/or waterproofing installations.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal components using hand and power tools, ensuring precise fabrication of parts.
- Operate and maintain fabrication equipment, including shears, brakes, welding machines, and other related machinery, in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform welding, soldering, and riveting to securely join sheet metal components and achieve a durable, high-quality finished product.
- Install and secure sheet metal using fasteners, adhesives, and proper sealing techniques to ensure waterproofing and durability.
- Assist with material handling, unloading, and organizing sheet metal supplies on-site to minimize waste and improve efficiency.
Quality Control:
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of finished products and components to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot defects or installation issues, implementing necessary repairs or adjustments to maintain structural integrity and functionality.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with the Foreman and roofing crew to complete projects on time and to company quality standards.
Safety & Maintenance:
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures, including proper PPE use and fall protection compliance.
- Participate in safety meetings, manufacturer system-specific training and other trainings as assigned.
- Ensure proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Work Environment:
- Physical demands include prolonged standing, lifting heavy materials, and operating machinery.
- Must not be afraid of heights or ladders.
- May require overtime during peak production periods or to meet project deadlines.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial roofing sheet metal installation preferred, but willing to train motivated individuals.
- Ability to read and follow construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication and installation tools.
- Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Technical training or certification in sheet metal fabrication, welding, or a related field is preferred.
- Bilingual (including English)
- OSHA 10 hour or 30 Hour Card
- Aerial Man lift and / or Forklift Certified
- CDL certification
- First Aid / CPR certification
