Summary
We are seeking a Facilities & Safety Manager to oversee building maintenance operations and ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations as the company’s designated Safety Officer. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in facility management, vendor coordination, and safety compliance within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all building repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Manage vendor communications for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other services, including obtaining quotes, scheduling work, and ensuring quality service.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams and equipment manufacturers to implement preventative maintenance programs, ensuring all necessary forms and logs are properly documented.
- Ensure new equipment requiring calibration and preventative maintenance (PM) is communicated to the Quality Department for proper scheduling.
- Respond to emergency situations, including after-hours on-call availability for urgent facility-related issues.
Safety & Compliance
- Serve as the company’s Safety Officer, responsible for OSHA compliance, fire safety regulations, and emergency response procedures.
- Develop and implement safety procedures, training programs, and maintain an up-to-date safety manual.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Facility Improvement & Project Management
- Develop and lead facility improvement projects, including defining project scope, creating statements of work (SOW), and ensuring timely execution.
- Manage relationships with vendors, including SBA minority vendors, and oversee credentialing, permitting, and compliance with NDAs.
- Issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs), evaluate proposals, and negotiate contracts, including timeline commitments and penalty clauses for project delays.
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the building maintenance budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide financial and strategic justifications for capital investments related to facility upgrades.
- Maintain accurate records of facility operations, maintenance activities, and safety compliance.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and manage the Facilities Technician, assigning tasks and ensuring performance expectations are met.
- Oversee personnel functions, including hiring, performance management, training, and career development.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards, policies, and regulations related to the role.
- Complete all required Quality & Compliance training within specified deadlines.
- Support additional responsibilities as assigned by HR, Building Maintenance, and IT Infrastructure leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, management, or safety compliance, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, facilities operations, and regulatory requirements.
Technical & Leadership Skills:
- Proven experience in vendor coordination, contract negotiation, and project management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with SAP ERP software is a plus.
- Experience developing safety programs and conducting risk assessments is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
