Environmental Engineer II-III
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations across various industrial and operational environments. Key responsibilities include managing permits, developing and enhancing compliance systems, implementing regulatory programs, conducting training, and preparing detailed reports. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, external partners, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders to support sustainable and compliant operations.
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering preferred; other engineering or technical degrees with relevant experience considered
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
Experience & Skills:
- 3 years of experience in refining or the chemical industry required
- Environmental regulatory compliance experience, including air emissions and reporting, preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with P&IDs and PFDs preferred
- Ability to adjust work schedules as needed to meet compliance requirements
- Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills (Word, Excel, graphics tools, and databases)
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor environmental compliance and track refinery performance in assigned areas
- Assist with environmental reporting, including NSPS/MACT reports, Tier II, and Air Emissions Inventory
- Coordinate with consultants to schedule and oversee emissions testing
- Track and report on Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) performance
- Support environmental data management and real-time compliance monitoring
- Investigate and report on flare operations and management
- Participate in regulatory inspections, audits, and root cause analysis
- Maintain organized records and ensure timely reporting
