Job Description:
The Systems Engineering Team Lead will manage, mentor, and support a team of System, Deployment and Test Engineers responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting advanced CAD/AVL systems for transit agencies. The ideal candidate will ensure the team delivers high-quality solutions while fostering innovation and collaboration. They will also coordinate technical activities, oversee project timelines, and ensure adherence to customer requirements and organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development for a team of 10 engineers.
- Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring alignment with individual skill sets and project requirements.
- Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-ones to review progress, address challenges, and set goals.
- Oversee the design, testing, and troubleshooting of CAD/AVL systems, onboard rail networks, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Ensure high standards of software testing, including CAD/AVL software running on Windows and SQL databases.
- Provide technical support for network configurations, RF systems, electronic hardware, and cellular communication systems.
- Review and approve test procedures, system specifications, and data requirement documentation.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the team and other stakeholders, including customers and senior management.
- Support the team in resolving escalated issues and troubleshooting complex problems.
- Identify opportunities for improving team workflows, testing methodologies, and documentation quality.
- Implement best practices for cybersecurity, RF communication, and database management.
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in system engineering, including 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven expertise in CAD/AVL systems, onboard rail networks, RF systems, and network configurations.
- Experience with software testing, Windows environments, and SQL databases.
- Strong knowledge of computer networks, VLANs, tagged VLANs, and cellular router configurations.
- Proficiency in programming and configuring Motorola CPS and L3Harris radios.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity protocols such as TDRP and onboard rail router configurations.
- Experience with Cradlepoint, Digi, and Sierra Wireless Routers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Visio, PowerPoint, Project, Excel).
- Excellent team management, conflict resolution, and motivational abilities.
- Strong deductive reasoning and troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional communication and technical writing capabilities.
