Teach - 5th grade. Must have a K-8 license and prefer a bilingual endorsement.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Demonstrates cooperativeness and willingness to carry out assigned tasks and performance responsibilities;
- Bilingual endorsement;
- Other qualifications determined necessary by the Board.

GENERAL SUPERVISOR: Superintendent
JOB GOAL: To create an Elementary Grade Program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education by each pupil’s ability to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students in a classroom utilizing the State competencies and curriculum/bilingual curriculum adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instruct students in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Record student grades and other appropriate information in cumulative files.
- Record student grades on grade sheets and report cards.
- Communicate with parents, bi-weekly, monthly, or sooner if the need arises, through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress. (whether students are passing or failing), behavior, and interpret the school's program.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated according to district guidelines.
- Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities or assignments.
- Administer group standardized tests by the district testing program.
- Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish.
- Gather data to develop strategies for student improvement.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities to include in and out-of-school activities.
- Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments, and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs, and implement EPSS.
- Attend and participate in Principal Meetings and/or Site Base Management Meetings, inclusive of parent-teacher organization meetings.
- Implement the teaching competencies adopted by the Board of Education.
- Log all outgoing long-distance telephone calls and fax transmittals.
- Perform other assigned tasks required by the supervisor(s).
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Term of Employment to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the school calendar.
SALARY:
Salary to be established by the Board of Education on an annual basis, through the adoption of Salary Schedules.
EVALUATION:
The performance of this job will be evaluated by provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
