ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - MISSION CRITICAL PROJECTS
Location: Chicago IL
Job Type and Duration: Contract to Hire
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 or more (depending on experience)
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for an immediate contract-to-hire opening in their Chicago, IL office.
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the electrical construction design of mission-critical (Data centers), commercial, and institutional (education, healthcare) power distribution systems. They will be an integral member of an estimate/design team for rapid design-build projects. Design-Build relies on a single point of responsibility contract and is used to minimize risk to the project owner and reduce delivery schedules by overlapping the design and construction phases of a project. The Engineer will also coordinate with architects, project managers, and other contractors during the build phase to ensure project requirements are satisfied when design changes are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Electrical equipment specification review
- Power distribution system design and layout
- Conduit layout or Revit modeling review construction drawings prior to job starts Electrical service and equipment load calculations
- Arc flash and breaker coordination analysis Coordination with other trade contractors to develop electrical service and equipment requirements
- Development of necessary documents for construction and service connection permits
- Stamp and seal electrical design documents as required for construction permits
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least five years of related experience in the electrical design of Mission critical (data centers) commercial, health care, and hospitality projects, strong communication skills both orally and in writing, strong attention to detail and safety, and be able to represent the company with professionalism and integrity.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer, preferably in Iowa or Illinois.
- All candidates will be reimbursed for all required professional fees and continuing education requirements required to maintain the candidate's professional license.
- Qualified candidates should also have a thorough knowledge of NEC as applied to commercial electrical design, experience with AutoDesk, AutoCAD, and Revit for development of electrical construction plans, ability to do load calculation, experience with SKM Power Tools, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.
