Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Waukesha County, WI
Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire
Pay range: $140k - $185k/yr
Client needs someone with a strong ability to interpret ASME code and properly apply it to a variety of situations.
We provide high quality repairs, parts, testing, and field service to the high energy pump market. We serve fossil, nuclear, renewables, pulp & paper, petroleum, waste & waste water, and the steel industries.
Summary: Under the direction of the Manager of Operations, the Engineering Manager will oversee the Company's engineering functions to prepare accurate and timely repair specifications for repairing equipment, in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education/Experience: Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering with over five years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience. Previous management experience is required. The ability to perform as a Certifying Engineer as required by ASME Section III, Appendix XXIII is preferred. Must have ASME code experience.
Protective Clothing/Equipment Required: Requires the use of safety glasses and shoes, hearing protection and gloves.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints, customer specifications and governmental regulations. Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD LT software.

- This individual will act as the primary technical lead for engineering department, field service personnel, shop personnel, customers, vendor, and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems, and/or special conditions.
- Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise engineering function to ensure the preparation of accurate and timely repair specifications for repairing equipment while meeting company profit margin guidelines.
- Responsible for the training of new and current employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the organization's standards for quality, quantity, and safety, consistent with the organization's principles.
- Review all ASME Code and nuclear safety related engineering documents as required by the Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual.
- Perform root cause analysis and warranty reports when required.
- Analyze and reduce engineering costs.
- Ensure engineering drawings are controlled and released properly.
- Develop & Implement Company engineering standards.
- Recommend the most cost effective and efficient methods and options for repairs.
- Prepare drawings and written specifications for machining department and outside vendors for making or repairing parts.
- Work with outside vendors and coordinate the making or repair of parts, ensuring the most cost-effective pricing while meeting specifications.
- Support sales team on an as needed basis as requested by sales manager and/or sales representatives.
- Perform annual performance evaluations.
- Make recommendations for the hiring, termination, and career development of employees within the department.
- Complete special projects as assigned, maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Be accessible to staff and customers during regular business hours and after hours (i.e., email accessibility on mobile devices). May require additional hours on short notice.
- Be respectful to co-workers and be part of an environment that fosters teamwork.
