This role collaborates with Operations, Estimating, and Sales to drive conceptual development, proposal preparation, engineering design, project management, and operational support.
The Mechanical Project Engineer will integrate client-specific technologies, focusing on pump and piping systems, control system design (motor controls, variable frequency drives, and programmable controllers), and the utilization of 3D point cloud scanning technology for bulk material handling design. This position will also support successful project execution and customer satisfaction in collaboration with the Core Business Group Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for dust suppression, washdown systems, and clean sweep technologies, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements and budget constraints.
- Assist sales and field service personnel in resolving equipment operational problems, collaborating with engineering and service teams to conduct system and component analysis.
- Develop and support control systems for dust collection and conveyor systems, including power distribution, motor controls, relay/timer logic, and programmable controllers.
- Manage projects from initiation to completion, including scope, budgets, and system installations.
- Conduct site visits to assess customer needs, diagnose system issues, and recommend improvement plans.
- Design control systems and select components for seamless integration into system operations, including developing wiring diagrams and component layout sketches.
- Prepare and deliver Assessment Reports outlining findings and recommendations within targeted timelines.
- Develop and review project proposals, including scope of work, installation specifications, pricing, preliminary design details, and drawings.
- Coordinate cross-departmental activities, acting as the primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and subcontractors.
- Assist Operations with 3D point cloud scanning for transfer chute design work and support system implementations.
- Work with Estimating to prepare equipment design, costing, and proposal preparation.
- Research and recommend new technologies to improve system designs and promote standardization.
- Participate in customer meetings and pre-bid discussions, completing trip reports for all site visits.
- Facilitate project meetings to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with objectives.
- Develop new products from concept through prototype, including engineering, fabrication, testing, installation, start-up, and training.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Capable of operating general maintenance tools, test measurement instruments, and office equipment.
- Substantial mobility and dexterity to function throughout the facility and on customer work sites.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering or technical project management experience.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor, JDE, SAP) is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think proactively and solve complex problems.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other design software is a plus.
- Proven ability to consistently meet or exceed deadlines.
