Our client, a national private EPC Firm, is hiring a Reliability / Mechanical Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity in Freeport, TX.

Our client is seeking customer centric individuals with strong interpersonal and technical skills to join their Reliability and Asset Management Team. We have a specific opportunity, described below, for an on-site Rotating / Mechanical Equipment Reliability Engineering Position at one of our customer’s sites in the Freeport, Texas Area.

The successful candidate will initially work essentially full time at the plant site, but will also be expected to occasionally travel to the sites of other customers to provide technical assistance and troubleshooting expertise. As one of the largest maintenance services providers in the US, our customers are from a broad spectrum of industries including Oil Refineries, Petrochemical Plants, Power Plants, and LNG facilities.

The candidate will also be expected to occasionally travel to our home office, and complete task assignments from the home office, to help grow our overall program.

The Reliability Engineer will work with the Customer to develop and implement the Reliability Improvement Program that is most effective for the Customer. For existing equipment, this will involve the development and implementation of Reliability and Maintenance strategies for Process and Major Equipment, beginning with validating equipment criticality assignments and progressing through developing effective preventative maintenance strategies, bill of materials, and proper spare part inventories.

The assignment will include the completion of functions and projects developed and assigned by the Customer as well as functions and projects developed by the candidate and approved by the Customer.

The candidate will excel at promoting the use of cross-functional teams and providing continuous hands-on leadership, direct involvement, and coaching from project inception through equipment specification, design and/or selection, testing, installation, startup, and production operation.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship, change management, and facilitation skills in addition to strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, reliability engineering design expertise, practical reliability problem identification, and problem-solving in a large equipment, continuous production, and manufacturing process environment.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with maintenance and operations hourly and technical personnel as well as communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Mechanical or Reliability Engineering degree and a minimum of 8 years (absolute) to 10 years (preferred) history of successful, hands-on, production plant experience including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators for the overall efficiency and production effectiveness measurement of mechanical equipment reliability and maintenance.
    • Development, implementation, and efficient utilization of Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Oil Analysis, and Ultrasonic Inspection procedures for practical problem identification and mitigation as well as development and implementation of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) strategies.
    • Process performance analysis and implementation of follow-up restoration of large centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and compressors as well as their drivers.
    • Utilization of Process Control and Information Technology (IT) systems for combining data and information from disparate sources (DCS, Temporary and permanent machine condition measurement devices, “operating and mechanical rules” from OEM or reliability specifications, etc.) into real-time equipment operating and emergency decision procedures.
    • Effective application of Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for new and existing equipment as well as complex manufacturing systems.
    • Practical application of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Including:
    • Facilitation of RCFA investigations involving operations, maintenance, engineering, and management personnel.
    • Detailed follow-up technical review and/or investigation of the RCFA findings and development of resolutions to the findings.
    • Project management to implement the resolutions.
    • Facilitation of Informal Root Cause analyses to help maintenance technicians and operators develop and apply reliability learnings into their on-going work.
    • Development and implementation of Reliability and Precision Maintenance Standards and Procedures for service, repair / replace, and overhaul tasks.
    • Effective system and component level equipment troubleshooting with development, implementation, and validation of corrective action items.
    • Developing and facilitating implementation of procedures for the use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) equipment history modules to record “as found” and “as restored/repaired” data, along with pertinent observations by maintenance technicians and operators, to provide a good foundation for reliability improvements and RCM/FMEA analysis.
    • New equipment conceptual and detailed design for reliability optimization and existing equipment re-design for reliability improvement.
    • Development, implementation, and management of optimized warehouse spare parts and capital spares strategy.
    • Total inception to completion management responsibility for a variety of large and small reliability improvement projects involving multiple discipline engineers and crafts personnel.
    • Financial risk assessment and capital equipment/project financial justification for large and small industrial equipment projects.
