Our client, a global EPC Firm, is hiring a Senior Buyer for a long-term contract opportunity in Wallingford, CT.
The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing procurement processes in adherence to company and client requirements. Create optimum efficiency to procure, expedite, and schedule deliveries of materials and equipment to multiple job sites. Oversee the subcontracted services supply base and track external contract needs, requests for services, preferred suppliers, and change orders, as well as aid in contract negotiation. Ensure compliance with project budgets and provide analysis of deviations. Manage the work of subordinates, provide guidance, and mentorship, and facilitate the development of assigned project procurement team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct procurement strategy for a Program of projects while overseeing a team of Program procurement coordinators and interfacing between department functions of buyers, warehousing, project schedulers, cost analysts, project managers, engineering, planning, and project development
- Manage all project-based procurement functions and assigned personnel including purchasing, expediting, and supplier quality & performance
- Plans, directs, and coordinates the objectives of procurement personnel engaged in the procurement of material and equipment.
- Consults on purchasing strategy for materials and services for various projects.
- Manages the sourcing of potential suppliers for defined scopes of work, and works with appropriate members of the project team to prequalify suppliers
- Oversee Requests for Proposal events, assist with evaluation of supplier proposals, award strategy & leadership signoff, contract creation & kickoff of work
- Directs & trains on processes and procedures for the purchase of equipment and materials, including within the ERP System
- Coordinate change management and purchase order close-out activities.
- Facilitate evaluation of supplier performance, develop supplier relations, and establish new suppliers.
- Assist with forecasting client material needs and stocking levels
- Build PowerBI Dashboards for Program procurement analytics
- Provide technical guidance and leadership for procurement personnel assigned to assist with procurement activities including recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction, or a related field. and 7 years of direct purchasing experience in core industries (Energy/Utility or Heavy Industrial).
- Proven management experience including training, leading, and development employees.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel including Pivot Tables
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerBI, PowerApps, Forms
- Technical knowledge of suppliers' products and capabilities
- Proven ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
- Proven ability to devise and lead implementation of new approaches to problems encountered.
- Agile, growth mindset, critical thinking
- Understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
- Understanding of logistics, freight, and tax implications.
