Business Development Manager, Financial Restructuring & Insolvency (FRI) | International Law Firm | New York NY Our prestigious and globally awarded global law firm client is hiring an experienced legal Business Development Manager to support their Financial Restructuring & Insolvency (FRI) practice group in NY. This role supports the Americas Financial Restructuring & Insolvency (FRI) Section in developing and implementing business development initiatives aimed at building client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, winning new work and positioning and profiling the Firm as one of the pre-eminent FRI practices in the region and globally. Although the role is based in New York, it includes a significant international dimension to ensure that business development activities and initiatives are coordinated across the client firm’s America’s office network. Law firm and related bankruptcy practice area experience is required. Our client is offering competitive compensation, benefits, and a bonus package.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the FRI BD Consultant/Lead and partners to help drive the implementation and development of the FRI strategic initiatives, associated marketing plans and identified key projects
- Taking the lead and supporting on pitch preparation and capability/marketing collateral and assist with the creation of firm-wide materials, as appropriate
- Supporting the practice in ensuring that all pitches/proposals to clients, new engagements and closed deals are captured. Ensuring that this information is processed and disseminated internally and externally – specifically to league table publications (Bloomberg/Thompson Reuters)
- Working on the legal directories process, including drafting submissions and liaising with partners and researchers
- Working with the central events team to assess the value, relevance and cost/benefits of profile-raising opportunities (including sponsorship and speaking slots) across the above product areas to ensure maximum benefit is released from each such opportunity
- Liaising with the central marketing communications resource to deliver the marketing materials required to support the Section’s marketing activities
- Working with the PSLs to ensure that timely and tailored briefing, thought leadership and webinar/seminar/roundtable materials are prepared and delivered to clients
- Assist in the integration of lawyer new joiners
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least five years’ experience working in a professional services role at a suitable level; may consider candidates with less experience than stated provided they have demonstrable experience of responsibility for a team and can demonstrate operating at board/partnership level
- Graduate with relevant and in-depth business development / communications experience in a professional services firm, preferably legal or in an international firm
- Prior experience and knowledge of working in a Restructuring/Banking/Finance/Transaction practice not essential but would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral
