What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent (OSHPD) position at Essel?
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist project manager and estimating in the creation of work plans and CPM schedules for OSHPD-regulated healthcare construction projects.
- Schedule and sequence day-to-day activities, ensuring compliance with OSHPD regulations and hospital operational requirements.
- Coordinate with hospital staff, inspectors, and regulatory agencies to meet project goals while minimizing disruptions to healthcare operations.
- Ability to travel to job sites as required.
- Create and maintain timely, orderly, and efficient project document flow in collaboration with the project manager, ensuring compliance with OSHPD documentation and reporting requirements.
- Manage field teams to ensure high performance, progressive production, and completion of work while upholding our core values.
- Conduct regular progress meetings with owners, designers, and healthcare administrators to ensure transparency and alignment with project objectives.
- Ensure all necessary permits, OSHPD approvals, and licenses are obtained and maintained throughout the project.
- Collaborate with and, when necessary, direct the activities of inspection agencies, including OSHPD field staff.
- Maintain strong relationships and clear communication with all project stakeholders, including hospital staff, inspectors, and the public.
- Lead weekly safety meetings, emphasizing healthcare-specific safety measures, infection control, and OSHPD requirements.
Education and Experience Required:
- Valid driver’s license and reasonable driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in commercial construction supervision, with at least two years managing OSHPD healthcare projects.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam or Adobe.
- Ability to travel as needed.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
