Seeking a Sr. Geotechnical Engineer to support our northern California offices. Qualified candidates must have a GE Registration in California, a master's degree or PhD in civil / geotechnical engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and grow the geotechnical engineering practice in our northern California offices.
Responsibilities :
Oversee, manage and direct geotechnical engineering evaluations for projects with varying ranges of complexity.
Prepare subsurface investigation proposals and assist in the marketing and acquisition of subsurface investigations.
Assist in the technical development of engineering staff.
Support marketing in business development, including attending short-list interviews as geotechnical expert, and reviewing and evaluating RFPs / RFQs to help develop proposals and statement of qualifications.
Required Experience :
Command of both design- and construction-related aspects of geotechnical engineering.
Experience in shallow and deep foundation design and Caltrans design of bridge foundations, retaining walls, MSE walls, and pavements.
Experience with design of mat-type foundations and development of mat foundation design parameters.
Ability to use Settle3D, Slide, AllPile, L-Pile, Shaft, CLiq, and LiquefyPro,
Experience with field infiltration testing (borehole method, double ring infiltrometer) and development of design infiltration rates in accordance with guidelines prepared by the various northern California governing agencies.
Ability to work closely with the marketing group to help acquire geotechnical investigation projects.
Master’s degree and / or PhD in civil / geotechnical engineering.
A minimum of 6 years of civil / geotechnical engineering experience.
California GE registration is required.
Preferred Experience :
Experience in site-specific ground motion studies, including time-history analyses.
Familiarity with cement- and lime-treated mix design and field implementation per Greenbook.
Experience with successful interaction with CGS / DSA / OSHPD / GMED reviewers.
Demonstrated successful leadership of a team of engineers / soil technicians.
