Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health care to patients, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for individuals struggling with mental health issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine patient needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring their effectiveness and side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in psychiatric care.
Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of hospital medicine and medical-surgical practices.
- Proficient in psychopharmacology for effective medication management.
- Understanding of physiology related to mental health conditions.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to psychiatric care.
- Experience in critical care settings or PICU is a plus.
- Ability to perform procedures such as ventilate or inhale as needed in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
