About the Role
The Senior Director, Insights & Strategy will function as an insights lead and strategic partner across Sundial Media Group's clients and brands.
They are a strategic and detail-oriented researcher who is obsessed with culture and shifting consumer mindsets. They are well versed in a variety of research methodologies and trend spotting approaches but also want to break with convention and create new ways to gather, analyze and tell stories with data and information.
They will lead, conduct, interpret, and present consumer and trends research, leveraging the insights they gather to act as a strategic advisor to our top clients, building close relationships with them that build their trust and enable them to challenge their thinking when necessary. They will also support strategic communications development, and will be a critical partner for the commercial business' integrated marketing function as well as our editorial teams. They will focus on driving a strong strategic narrative for our concepts, weaving in cultural, editorial, and audience insights.

The Senior Director, Insights & Strategy reports to the SVP, Insights.
Responsibilities:
- Lead research initiatives using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies for Essence, Refinery29, and their partner brands globally
- Track signals and define trends by monitoring, and interpreting shifts in multicultural and general market culture to identify commonalities and nuances for a monthly cultural trend update for internal and external clients
- Generate insights and opportunities through analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, cultural trends, and best practices across influencers/talent, video, on site editorial, social and white label work
- Use those insights to develop strategy that shapes the Essence and Refinery29 brands and the creative direction and campaign strategy for their client partnerships
- Formulate actionable strategic recommendations for our top clients based on a deep understanding of client's business objectives, challenges, threats and opportunities
- Manage multiple projects and clients to a very high degree of quality
- Develop the skills of and mentor junior team members
- 7 years of experience in research and brand strategy
- Experience with insights & strategy work focused on multicultural audiences, ideally Black and LatinX women
- Experience working with clients across categories
- Strong analytic, storytelling and problem-solving skills
- Ability to extract and communicate meaningful insights from multiple sources of data in a simple and engaging way
- A proven track-record of responding to a diverse set of business needs and client RFPs
- Strong history of leading relationships with senior level clients internally and externally
- Deep curiosity about human behavior and cultural trends
- Experience in building presentations in Google slides and Powerpoint
- At least 1 year of Brand Strategy experience at a Creative Agency
- Interest and experience in identifying gaps in the marketplace, in culture, and in the category that a content partnership with our brands could solve
- A desire to be a consummate partner to all internal teams who can guide clients in brand, business and cultural understanding

Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
