System Engineer 3
Major Responsibilities
- Perform operational tasks, implement Citrix environment’s hardware/software and services projects, and facilitate 3rd party services delivery within the scope of the IT service function
- Act as hands-on resource with subject matter expertise to implement cost-effective, scalable technology solutions
- Maintain currency of technology solutions across portfolio of investment
- Actively contribute to project planning, design / integration activities, capacity management planning, performance management, network infrastructure and departmental standards for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop (CVAD).
- Define business cases, required investments, and recommend methods and metrics to implement IT-enabled business change efforts applying technology solutions to business problems
- Explore new capabilities and emerging technologies, applying to roadmaps where appropriate
- Establish trusted partnerships with peers and all colleagues throughout the enterprise
- Track service level objectives for team metrics that quantify delivery achievements
- Exercise troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve Citrix and Citrix-related security problems (Level 2/3)
- Construct and execute test plans to verify correct operation of implemented / completed systems
- Recommend where IT resources can be utilized more efficiently and effectively
- Support engagement through open and effective two-way communication across Essendant's business functions

Skills/Knowledge Required
- Excellent knowledge in management and administration on all versions of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.
- Working knowledge of IGEL / Universal Management Suite
- Applied hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and supporting Windows physical and virtual software and services
- Strong experience with Citrix Storefront/Netscaler Gateway/Netscaler Load Balancing
- Strong knowledge implementation and troubleshooting of Citrix XenApp (2016 R2 and 2019) and XenDesktop (Windows 10 / 11)
- Strong knowledge in Application management, publishing, packaging, virtualization and streaming
- Strong Proficiency with PowerShell
- Advanced scripting and automation skills
- Intermediate knowledge in Printer Management in a Citrix environment
- Intermediate knowledge in Citrix Patch Management and policies configuration
- Intermediate knowledge in Citrix Director, Studio, Storefront, Provisioning Server, Netscaler, Windows Active Directory Administration, including GPO management
- Strong Experience on managing a Citrix farm on VMWare
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated skill in structured troubleshooting and complex issue resolution
- Experience with vendor relationship management and 3rd party resource facilitation
- Self-directing individual demonstrating teamwork, organization skills and well-structured working approach given multiple priorities
- Clear and relevant written and verbal communications skills, with sensitivity to target audience
- Willingness to coach / mentor others
Education
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience in related field
- Citrix technical certifications highly desired; candidates with commensurate experience considered
Experience
- 5-7 years hands-on experience with broad range of enterprise-class technology solutions
- 3 years of hands-on experience in a Citrix Administration/engineering role
- The following software experience in: Microsoft O365, Active Directory, Windows client operating systems (Windows 10/11), DNS, DHCP, File and Print Services, Networking, Storage, Security, and thin client hardware
- 3 years of project experience as team member or lead
- 2 years in large ($1B or greater) corporate environments preferred
- 5 years of experience working with cross-functional teams and heavily matrixed organizations
Salary Range: $95,000-$120,000
