- Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent AND one of the following:
oTwo years of experience in a medical laboratory under the direct supervision of an MLT, Medical Technologist, or Physician OR
oAn associate degree from an accredited college/university in an accredited Medical Laboratory Program (may substitute for required experience).
- West Virginia Clinical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Licensure and Certification.
- Conduct medical laboratory tests in areas such as:
oHematology
oUrinalysis
oBacteriology
oSerology
oParasitology
oBlood Banking
- Perform minor maintenance and calibration of diagnostic equipment.
- Collect, cultivate, isolate, identify, and analyze specimens.
- Cut, stain, and mount tissue sections for microscopic analysis.
- Group, type, and crossmatch blood for donors and recipients to assure compatibility.
- Read and interpret physicians or supervisors orders to determine specific testing requirements.
- Explain test procedures to patients when applicable to ensure cooperation and reduce anxiety.
- Conduct appropriate clinical test preparation and processing procedures.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, logs, files, and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures to patients and collaborate with medical staff.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Prior experience working in a medical laboratory setting preferred.
- PRN (as needed) with flexible scheduling.
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
