Job Profile:
Join our R&D polymer team at Essential Industries as a Polymer Chemist II.
This team member will be responsible for developing new water-based acrylic emulsion polymers and polyurethane dispersions to fit the customer's needs. They will be responsible for developing the polymer and evaluating its performance in a starting point formulation. They will also be responsible to work with the process engineers and chemical operators to scale up the formulations from lab to pilot to full production.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of project work-synthesis of polymer, formulation of coatings, and the evaluation of the coatings.
- Documentation of experiments and manufacturing process instructions.
- Good housekeeping by maintaining a 6S work environment.
- Operate and maintain instrumentation in a safe and professional manner.

- Qualifications and Skills:
- PhD in polymer chemistry or related field OR a MS or BS degree in chemistry with 2-5 years of industry experience in organic and/or polymer synthesis.
- Effective communication with internal teams, as well as with customers.
- Understanding and the use of Design of Experiments is a plus.
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, such as stoichiometry.
- Microsoft Office experience
- Having a passion to solve problems by developing new and innovative solutions.
