Position Summary
Working with the Sheet Metal Lead the Sheet Metal Worker III sets up and operates machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines. Determines dimensions and tolerance of piece to be fabricated, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprint, sketches. Plans and executes assignments using machine tools ranging from shear, break, punch, notcher, and plasma punch.
Essential Job Duties
- Read work plans and specifications to lay out, measure and mark the sheet metal
- Operate various types of equipment – plasma arc cutting machines, computerized equipment, hand and power tools and light metalworking machines – to cut, bend, punch, shape or form the metal in other ways
- Operate all machines within the department
- Fit, join and fasten the sheet metal parts to construct the final products or installation pieces
- Finish products and check that they meet quality, safety and other standards and specifications
- Repair and maintain sheet metal work
- Scan all job orders through the Made2Manage (M2M) system
