Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs or designeethe Director – Child Development Center is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of and for managing the day-to-day operations of the center. Supervisory Role Oral and written instructions are received from the Dean of Student Affairs or designee. The Director – Child Development Center may supervise administrative staff, professional staff,support staff or student workers. Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of a childcare curriculum consistent. With the center’s philosophy, the Newark Public School’s Early Childhood Collaborative, and the accepted standards of excellence in the field of childcare.
- Manage the center in accordance with licensing regulations ensuring compliance with licensing, health and safety requirements.
- Monitor classroom functions and environment. Provide feedback and recommendations to classroom personnel.
- Create and maintain a physical, social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual environment that promotes id encourages the growth and development of pre-school children.
- Establish and maintain communication with parents. Counsel and refer. Parents with concerns regarding developmental and / or behavioral issues. Coordinate the Parents Advisory Board.
- Prepare, monitor and administer the center’s operating and capital budgets. Seek additional sources of funding for the center working collaboratively with community groups, agencies and other funding’ sources.
- Select, train and supervise the center’s staff. Provides orientation and in-service training opportunities to keep staff absents of emerging issues in the field of childcare.
- Maintain relationships with teacher training facilities, other childcare providers and related organizations keeping the college in the forefront of the childcare community.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with the college’s academic programs, providing training opportunities for students.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of staff and student records.
- Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
