Student Support Assistant - Welcome Center

Functions and Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager of the Welcome Center, the Student Support Assistant is responsible for providing prospective students with onboarding services leading to successful student enrollment.
Supervisory Role
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assist students with completing applications and securing placement through placement test appointments or waivers under multiple measures.
2. Provide academic advisement to students
3. Assist students with registering for courses and degree programs that lead to the achievement of their academic goals.
4. Provide academic advisement and support mentorship activities to students
5. Provide information about the federal financial aid application process.
6. Provide guidance and information to students on the college, its programs, and available
academic and non-academic student support services.
7. Collaborate with representatives from academic and non-academic departments to resolve student issues.
8. Participate in (part-time staff do not attend professional conferences) training and professional development opportunities.
9. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student records.
10. Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.
11. Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and / or Abilities
1. Associate Degree or higher.
2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
3. Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite operations and, Student Webs Services Portal.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
7. Excellent time and project management skills.
8. Strong record-keeping and assessment skills.
9. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Education Requirements
Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and / or Abilities
1. Two or more years' experience in admissions at an institution of higher education with knowledge of admissions guidelines, policies, and procedures.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid programs.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of the college community, local community organizations, and local outside agencies.
4. Fluent in Spanish or Creole languages.
