Summary
The Essex Aftercare Program of Essex Preschool seeks dynamic educators with a vision for extracurricular experiences for children. The ideal Aftercare teacher has patience, creativity, and energy to engage with elementary and early childhood aged students. Teachers hours are approximately 3:00 - 6:00 pm. Three - Five days per week.
Duties
Key responsibilities for Aftercare teacher:
- Follow the directions of the Aftercare Coordinator and Director and assist in supporting the smooth running of the Aftercare program
- Plan activities that meet program goals, ensure the safety of children, and communicate with parents, staff and director.
- Maintain facility and equipment. Clean up and light maintenance at the end of each session.
- Prepare snacks and supervise snack time.
- Supervise walking fields trips in Essex Village: library, town Green, etc.
- Provides emotional support, manages student behavior, follows incident report procedures, and regularly communicates with parents
- Ensures the aftercare environment is safe, follows security protocols, practices safety and security procedures.
Requirements
Educational Requirements for the Aftercare Teacher
- Required High School Diploma
- Prefer associates or bachelors degree, or working towards either, certificate in early childhood education, or other post secondary training.
- first aid and CPR, administration of medicine, EpiPen training, or willingness to be trained.

Physical Requirements
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
Salary : $17 - $19
