Essex Westford School District has an immediate need for a Long-Term Substitute English Teacher at the Center for Technology, Essex. This position is expected to last through April 2025, with the possibility of an extension. This English class is integrated with programs such as Natural Resources, Building HVAC, Health Professions, and Pre-Technical. While knowledge in these fields is beneficial, it is not required.
EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state.

Pay : $145 for a half day, $290 for a full day
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply :
- Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid VT educator license with a secondary English endorsement
- Experience working with students at risk is preferred.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the content area(s) of instruction and content-area pedagogy.
- Expertise in utilizing technology to support instruction (classroom settings are equipped with 1 : 1 computers)
- Experience working with and ability to develop and utilize creative strategies to engage adolescents and young adults, including reluctant learners and those at risk of dropping out.
- Ability to differentiate and work with various support personnel to maximize students' potential
- Knowledge and / or experience using "backward design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and adjust lesson delivery.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Common Core Standards.
- Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students.
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
