About The Role
Essity North America is looking for an experienced Global Packaging Development Engineer who is responsible for developing packaging solutions in the global function but with a focus on North America. This involves identifying, developing, and implementing solutions for packaging from early prototyping through qualification at suppliers, to validation in Essity factories or third-party manufacturing.
The ideal candidate should/could live in Philadelphia, PA.

About The Role
Essity North America is looking for an experienced Global Packaging Development Engineer who is responsible for developing packaging solutions in the global function but with a focus on North America. What You Will Do
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement packaging solutions that align with Essity’s category strategies and sustainability goals.
- Develop packaging materials and packaging concepts, considering product protection, costs, sustainability aspects, as well as customer agreements and current legislation.
- Plan, coordinate, and assess production trials to validate new packaging materials and specifications.
- Conduct research and analysis of packaging materials to identify opportunities for harmonization and complexity reduction of the company’s packaging material specifications.
- Maintain a high level of awareness regarding scientific materials, packaging designs, technology, and sustainability trends in the industry.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source sustainable packaging materials.
- Bachelors, but preferably Master's Degree, in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or another relevant field
- 3 years of industrial experience, working with various forms of packaging development.
- Experience from manufacturing environment and packaging machinery relative to line trials in the packaging process and performance issues is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Project management experience is an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of packaging materials, components and functionalities, the packaging filling process, and packaging associated test methods/standards.
- Problem-solving skills. Ability to identify smart solutions with the right level of pragmatism.
- Able to travel 20%-30%
