Our Estacada Schools Operations Team is hiring for Substitute Custodians at all buildings. We are seeking highly motiviated individuals to join our team of on-call custodial substitutes.
Come join a hard-working, collaborative, team! Hours per day can vary. Must be able to work day or evening shift until 11:30pm.
Set your own schedule! This position includes paid training upon hire. We are unable to offer benefits for this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred and two years of successful custodial experience or relevant demonstrated proficiency in custodial duties
- Working knowledge/training in modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment
- Ability to satisfactorily perform work independently with a minimum of written or oral instructions.
- Ability to work non-regular hours as necessary
- Upon employment, employees will complete training in Material Safety Data Sheets, asbestos, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Knowledge of OR-OSHA requirements that apply to assigned duties
- Ability to satisfactorily perform all physical requirements of assigned tasks
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff members, students, and the general public
- Ability to maintain consistent and regular attendance
- Ability to acquire First Aid/CPR card
- Fingerprint-based Criminal Background check will be required at employee’s expense upon offer of employment.
- Upon pre-employment offer, candidate will be sent in for a physical and drug screen, at District expense. District employment contingent upon results.
SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
An employee in this classification may perform any of the following duties. However, these examples do not include all the specific tasks which an employee may be expected to perform.
- Floor Care: Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish various floor types; vacuum carpets.
- Sanitization: Disinfect and sanitize according to district protocols.
- Cleaning Tasks: Clean and dust walls, furniture, woodwork, and equipment; wash and disinfect restrooms; clean windows, door glass, drinking fountains, and high-touch surfaces.
- Waste Management: Empty and clean wastebaskets; pick up refuse in hallways, entrances, and grounds.
- Event Setup: Arrange furniture and equipment for cleaning and events; transport equipment between schools for large events.
- Maintenance: Replace light bulbs, make minor plumbing repairs, and maintain cleaning equipment; report safety hazards.
- Summer Cleaning: Perform deep cleaning and maintenance during summer, including floor stripping, carpet shampooing, window caulking, painting, and tile replacement.
- Supply Management: Restock custodial supplies.
- Security: Provide security and supervision during evening activities; unlock and lock doors and windows; supervise students and enforce safety rules.
- Flexible Scheduling: Substitute for day custodians as needed; respond to building alarms and emergencies.
- Coordination: Communicate with inspectors, repair personnel, and evening school representatives.
- Laundry Duties: Handle laundry tasks for kitchen towels, cleaning rags, sports uniforms, and other items.
- Vandalism Monitoring: Monitor restrooms for smokers, vandalism, and graffiti.
- Grounds Maintenance: Conduct perimeter clean-up, weeding, and trimming.
REPORTS TO: Lead Custodian; Facilities Coordinator and/or Building Principal
GOAL:
Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in the maintenance of school classrooms, restrooms, hallways and other related facilities. Assists with maintenance and repair work during vacation periods, including painting, refinishing floors, and making minor repairs to fixtures and furniture. These duties may be performed during day or swing shift hours.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: SUBSTITUTE, ON-CALL
Work days per week will vary depending upon the needs of the district. Salary and placement will be in accordance with the FY24/25 substitute pay rate of $21.36 / hour.
