Responsibilities
The Representative, Drayage will work as part of a team to manage drayage business within EFW Truckload, a division of Estes Forwarding Worldwide. The Representative, Drayage is responsible for moving customers’ freight out of the US and Canadian ports/rail yards, tracking and tracing, validating booking information, and effectively communicating with the carriers within our network to arrange transportation based on customers’ needs. The role is a hybrid mentality to fit in both customer and carrier workflows in day-to-day operations with proper execution of standard operation procedures, key performance indicators, and other account metrics on a daily basis.
Candidates for this position will be expected work our of either our Richmond, VA or St. Paul, MN offices.

- Manage existing customers while quoting new opportunities to grow book of business for the Drayage Division, under EFW Truckload.
- Work aggressively to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with drayage customers through pro-active issue identification, resolution, and frequent interface.
- Create and manage relationships with carriers to increase our pool needed to satisfy import and export volume.
- Monitor and manage shipments within areas of responsibility to ensure most current information is available and complete including status updates, cost – both original and all additional costs incurred during transit, charges – both original and all additional charge adjustments due to reweigh/re-dim/detention/etc., trace notes, and service issues.
- Manage document flow of drayage shipments including TSA documents, SDS for hazmat shipments, BOLs and Delivery Receipts. Ensure documents needed for scanning/uploading are handled properly both before and after pickup.
- Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 1-3 years of experience in the Transportation industry. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, internet, web-based, and job specific software applications.
- Ability to be creative and have strategic planning skills.
- Proven competence to communicate clearly and persuasively with all levels of an organization, including the Drayage team.
- A team player with a high level of energy and self-motivation.
- Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to identify issues, requirements, and opportunities involved in customer service.
- Ability to manage all financial aspects of a designated station.
- Experience managing external service providers (airline, cartage, truckload, line-haul).
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and written/oral communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and set priorities.
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting, in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition; handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and the organization. Must be mentally and emotionally capable of handling a high stress environment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents.
