General Summary

The Product / Inventory Manager will maintain the organization’s inventory counts, and other necessary tasks to keep accurate records of inventory transactions. Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the effective utilization of people, materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes within the assigned areas; meeting safety, production scheduling, cost, and delivery objectives; meeting established quality targets, including scrap and rework, and when missing these targets, develop and implement corrective action plans. The product / Inventory manager will report to VP of Manufacturing and Purchasing Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Responsible for daily cycle count process of components and finished goods.
  • Responsible for distributing inventory from RMA and Repairs to Finished goods.
  • Assign locations to stock as needed.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Mark stock items, using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Assists with general maintenance and cleanup of the warehouse as needed.
  • Investigates inventory discrepancies once made aware by other departments or as found in cycle counts.
  • Assists with periodic physical inventory audits.
  • Assists stocking clerk if needed.
  • Processes misc production and SMT paperwork to maintain component inventory accuracy.
  • Responsible for distributing inventory from RMA and repairs to finished goods.
  • Assigns new locations for products throughout the facility.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors to discuss area performance, expectations, and ensure alignment
  • Motivating, supporting, listening, and providing guidance to production staff, while being responsive to their needs
  • Delegates daily assignments
  • Responsible for the progress of assignments, safety, quality, productivity, and other KPI’s
  • Direct and control through supervisors and team leaders, the workload to ensure on-time delivery of finished products to customers
  • Models and enforces company safety practices and Core Values, oversees orientation of safety and emergency evacuation of assigned employees, and works to make safety a high priority
  • Develop, implement, and monitor continuous improvement activities aimed at improving safety, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Communicates with the Sales Team on large or unique sales orders to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Works with Engineering on process improvement methods
  • Oversee successful and consistent training of all departmental employees
  • Ensure effective collaboration between relevant departments
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential functions satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, and physical and environmental conditions required of the employee on the job.

Education And Experience

  • Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
  • Forklift operator certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in manufacturing
  • Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervising or managing others
  • Prior experience managing a department preferred, not required
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Prior experience with ERP system (preferably Macola) preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and production department.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Ability to use inventory tracking and management software.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Persuasive, teaching communication style
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Results-driven, good planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and analyze
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques
  • Ability to manage within budget
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively
  • Ability to manage diversity

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS (include but are not limited to:)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, stand, sit, and walk. The employee must have the cognitive, intellectual, and mental functions necessary to handle more than one complex task at a time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to forty (40) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach high and low items.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet. This position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations; may handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously; and may occasionally handle absentee replacements on short notice.
