Estrella Health and Rehab, a Skilled Nursing Facility located in Avondale, Arizona, is looking for a Medical Biller. Come join our fun/fast paced environment in an industry that stands the test of time!
Pay Range: $15.00 - $18.00/ hr
As the Medical Biller, you will learn the innerworkings of healthcare insurance and also gain a wide knowledge of accounting practices. You will be trained alongside our Assistant Business Office Manager, on a system of internal control are in place and operating satisfactorily to safeguard facility assets.
The primary purpose of you job position is to assist in the day-to-day accounting functions of the facility in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles relating to the long-term care operation, and as may be directed by the Administrator or Business Office Manager. This person will be vital in the success of the facility with their billing and follow up. Some job duties may include but are not limited to: following up on insurance claims, posting cash, running insurance eligibility, RFMS Trust, private billing, providing support to the front desk reception as needed, and customer service with family and residents.
Must haves:
- Ability to understand and implement healthcare reimbursement, billing and accounting principles.
- Ability to understand, control and track direct spending and labor budgets
- Must be knowledgeable of basic nursing practices, procedures, terminology, laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
- High school diploma or equivalent required, BA degree in Accounting or Business is preferred

Experience:
• Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
Train with Assistant Business Office Manager (ABOM) to:
- Establishes and maintains financial files for all residents related to admission, billing, and collection of accounts receivable in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepares accurate and timely billing for routine and ancillary services to state agencies, Medicare, private payors and other billing agents. Actively manages collection process for facility.
- Maintains current copy of facility license(s) and proof of insurance coverage.
- Completes all necessary documentation and updates applicable system data related to cash receipts, account research and adjustments, transfer of depository cash, and daily census activity.
- Reviews payment policies and procedures with new admissions and their responsible parties.
- Documents business office processes on an on-going basis.
- Administers and reconciles resident trust accounts and petty cash at least monthly.
- Performs month-end close procedures and prepares and submits all required reports.
