Extended contract days (summer school) will become a part of the number of days worked in a fiscal year and affect allowable days absent. Employees working extended contracts (summer school) who take leave without pay (dock), personal leave (leave without cause),personal illness, bereavement, maternity leave, and labor action (strike) shall constitute days absent toward eligibility in participation in sick leave bonus pay.
Job Type Description Summary
A vacancy exists for at least one (1) with the possibility of up to three (3) depending upon student enrollment/needs for physical therapist to provide related physical therapy services to preschool and school-age special needs students for the Special Education Extended School Year Program at the Orchard View Intermediate School. Qualifications include a West Virginia license as a Qualified Physical Therapist.
Reports To Director or Asst. Super. of Special Ed.
Salary Schedule
Berkeley County Schools Therapeutic and Diagnostic Services Index based on degree level and years of experience.
Specialized Skills
A degree from an accredited physical therapy program recognized. Current license in good standing with the West Virginia Board of Physical Therapy. Experience as a physical therapist in a pediatric setting or school system preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
Communicates, collaborates and cooperates with colleagues, multi-disciplinary team, supervisors, parents and students
Completes thorough and comprehensive physical therapy evaluation through a variety of methods: standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, interview, etc.
Develops intervention plan based on the results of the evaluation, student needs and educational model
Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to review evaluation results, provide recommendations as needed based on team discussions and develop individual education plans
Provides direct physical therapy services to students using evidence based practices and clinical judgement
Provides consultative/support physical therapy services to students, teachers and service personnel
Modifies and adapts the educational environment to enhance a student’s educational performance based on student needs (i.e. adaptive equipment, staff training, environmental modifications, etc.)
Reassesses student’s performance and effects of services provided and makes changes to treatment plan as needed
Documents physical therapy services provided efficiently and accurately.
Assists in the development and implementation of all aspects of the physical therapy program (i.e. prioritizing schedules, managing inventory of equipment and assessments, etc.)
Adheres to federal and state legislation that affect physical therapy practice
Adheres to county/school system policies and regulations
