We are searching for an individual with a knack for fixing things to join our IT team as a POS Specialist for our IT department. This is a full-time hourly position located at our corporate office in Honolulu, HI.
This role is responsible for providing level-2 technical support for Sullivan Family of Companies’ current Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
Essential Duties:
- Initiates problem determination by analyzing description of symptoms, assessment of any environmental impacts, review of system logs and technical reports.
- Diagnoses, recreates, and reports application issues to support vendor and work with the vendor to provide requested information and supporting data to enable the vendor to provide a fix.
- Researches EFT payment incidents reported to the Service Desk and determine the root cause.
- Provides an explanation which our stores can pass on to our external customers.
- Escalates, as needed related issues to our merchant services provider or 3rd party.
- Maintains SFTP security across our stores to ensure interfaces to external systems are operable.
- Builds, stages, and tests POS systems for new stores.
- Practices basic scripting/programming concepts and advance POS configuration.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to deal with internal and external customers and work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Demonstrated working knowledge in troubleshooting and problem solving
- Ability to provide strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Ability to follow through on systems and procedures
- Willingness to be open, to learn, and take on new responsibilities
- Strong working knowledge of troubleshooting concepts
- Strong critical thinking skills showing the ability to quickly analyze situations, apply relevant knowledge and expertise, evaluate potential risks/benefits, and make good judgment decisions
- Demonstrates ability to produce accuracy and thoroughness
Education/Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management or related field of study, and;
- Minimum five (5) years of POS level 1 support experience preferred, and;
- Previous related retail experience preferred, or;
- Equivalent combination of education/experience.
Working Environment:
- Air-conditioned office or store environment with frequent exposure to outside weather conditions in travelling to and from stores.
- Requires ability to work a flexible schedule including working outside of business hours with 24/7 availability to assist the service desk with escalated incidents. Additionally, the job requires the individual to be able to travel off island to neighbor islands to meet store needs.
Mental Demands:
- Ability to maintain objectivity, neutrality, and calmness within a high pressure, fast-paced, deadline driven environment handling multiple projects and/or situations effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as with the team.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing conditions quickly.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to Bend, kneel, continuously stand, climb, drive, work outdoors, using chemical agents or wearing protective clothing.
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
- Working indoors and sitting at a desk or table working on a computer, looking at a computer screen for long periods of time.
- Vision, hearing, speech and literacy (critical).
Communication Demands:
- Requires strong verbal, oral, reading, writing comprehensive and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with management and team.
