Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Optimization Algorithm Engineer to join our team at ETAP. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and optimizing algorithms for power system applications. This role involves designing advanced optimization models, collaborating with R&D teams, supporting customers, and contributing to innovative research in power systems optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Algorithm Development and Optimization:

• Design, develop, and implement advanced optimization algorithms for power system applications, including unbalanced optimal power flow, DER sizing, RAS, economic dispatch, and unit commitment.

• Enhance existing optimization models to improve accuracy, scalability, and computational efficiency within the ETAP software platform.

• Collaborate with the R&D team to integrate optimization techniques with other ETAP modules, such as protection, load shedding, and grid stability.

Power System Modeling and Simulation:

• Develop and validate detailed power system models, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks, and DERs using ETAP's simulation tools.

• Perform comprehensive analysis and simulations to test the effectiveness of optimization algorithms under various operating conditions and scenarios.

• Support the integration of renewable energy sources, microgrids, and energy storage systems within the software's optimization framework.

Software Development Collaboration (Optional):

• Work closely with software engineers to translate power system optimization requirements into software features and user interfaces.

• Participate in the software development lifecycle, including specification, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of new features and enhancements.

• Provide input on the design of APIs and data exchange formats to ensure seamless integration with other systems and platforms.

Customer Support and Customization:

• Assist ETAP's global customer base, including utilities, industrial facilities, and consulting firms, in implementing and customizing optimization solutions.

• Provide technical support and training to users on the effective use of ETAP's optimization modules.

• Gather feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and new feature developments.

Research and Innovation:

• Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in power systems optimization, smart grid technologies, and energy market operations.

• Participate in research and innovation projects to explore new methodologies and technologies that can be incorporated into ETAP's products.

• Contribute to white papers, technical articles, patents, and presentations to share knowledge with the industry and promote ETAP's capabilities.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, and application notes.

• Ensure that optimization algorithms and software solutions comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain and update documentation as new features and enhancements are released.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong background in optimization techniques for power system applications.

• Experience with power system modeling and simulation.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C , or MATLAB.

• Familiarity with ETAP software or similar power system analysis tools.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong communication skills for customer support and technical documentation.
