What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metal/Woodshop Machine Operator position at ETC?
ETC is hiring a Metal/Woodshop Machine Operator to join our team in Mazomanie! This position is responsible for operating both metal and woodworking machines to build pallets and fabricate frames for Live Event Hoists as well as operating our CNC router.
We are looking for someone who has experience working with metal and woodshop machines, ability to read blueprints, strong mechanical aptitude, and ability to follow instructions.

- Manufactures parts to the standards and specifications
- Follows procedures and selects tools and materials
- Operates both Metal and Wood working machines. This includes saws, drills, routers, mills, and small tools.
- Ensures work orders are completed
- Maintains expected productivity output levels and completes assignments as scheduled
- Ensures machines are running at full capacity for each job
- Completes paperwork correctly, labels parts per work order and forward the product to the next station
- Maintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs for the next shift
- Ensures product quality meets standards by frequently checking work
- Builds parts to quality standards within specified tolerance as reflected on print
- Follows ISO procedures
- Uses appropriate documentation, e.g. ECRs, and NCMR, to identify and communicate issues
- Completes machine maintenance in a timely manner
- Reports all identified problems to the team leader or manager
- Maintain tools regularly and informs team lead or manager of tooling needs
- Adheres to safety standards at all times
- Ensures that safe methods and practices are used
- Abides by safety procedures, work practice controls, and OSHA guidelines
- Wears personal protective equipment as required
- Identifies and reports safety issues to management
- Learns new tasks and procedures as needed
- Listens to, understands and follows instructions while learning new assignments
- Recognizes unusual circumstances and asks questions when necessary
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment
- Ensures after task is completed, floor is swept, and tools are returned to designated area
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Completes special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashion
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- 6-12 months of experience setting up and maintaining metal and wood shop equipment preferred
- Knowledge of various metal and wood shop machines
- Good organizational skills
- Good math skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Able to read blueprints
- Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.
- Proven ability to understand and follow directions
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
