National Brand and Locally owned dealership: Opened originally in Syracuse in 1965, entered Rochester 4/30/72, 50 years ago. We are returning to our roots and opening a design studio in Syracuse.
We are in search of 2 talented designers for our forthcoming Dewitt, NY new build location that is coming this Fall at Marshall’s Plaza in the LensCrafters sub-parcel. We have a beautiful end-cap 2,500 sqft location, new construction and new built out!

This is a great opportunity for a qualified designer to put together a nice career in home furnishing and decor. We offer the complete interior design solution including complimentary design service (YOU!), custom case goods, custom upholstery, quick ship upholstery, custom artwork, re-upholstery, bedding, a full range of lighting and accessories, area rugs, custom hard (priority Hunter Douglas dealer) and soft window treatments, wall to wall carpeting.
We have our own delivery/service team, and our own warehouse. 80% of our products are manufactured by Ethan Allen in our North American Workshops, the other 20% are made exclusively for us. All of our furniture is EXCLUSIVE to Ethan Allen and you will not find it at any other furniture store.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The Ethan Allen Interior Designer works closely with their client in the design center/studio and at the customer’s home to create individualized design solutions and to sell Ethan Allen products and services exclusively. The designs include space planning, fabric coordination, product selection and overall project design. Successful execution is evidenced by developing individualized designs and achieving sales goals in a commission-based selling environment representing Ethan Allen products and services.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Interior Designer creates design solutions by selling Ethan Allen products and services that are consistent with the client's preference and budget.
- Customarily and regularly make home calls to evaluate the client’s needs and provide a total individualized design solution that closes the sale.
- Educate customers about the complimentary design service Ethan Allen provides, offering as little or as much design or home furnishing service as client desires.
- Remain current on design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions.
- Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional service to client, before and after the sale, by promptly keeping client informed of their order status including any delays.
- Participate as required in all local and corporate sponsored marketing and training programs, as well as local grass-roots marketing efforts both at the design center and independently.
- Educate client on all the Ethan Allen sponsored finance options available to them.
- Contribute towards the development and on-going upkeep of the team’s design portfolio.
- Utilize the systems and technology available to maximize efficiency in designing projects, creating presentations and providing professional home furnishing service for the design center’s customers.
- Utilize Ethan Allen 3D Room Planner tool as part of presentation to client.
- Work cooperatively in maintaining a neat and orderly Design Center projection.
- Perform any other duties as required
Requirements:
Required to work some holidays and weekends.
An entrepreneurial attitude and approach with strong communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to practice residential interior design including the ability to design and create projects using technical and creative skills in color and space planning. Proven experience with in-home consultative design service or related home furnishings and decor industry. Must be able to work holidays, evenings and weekends.
