WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Quality Tech is responsible for the daily inspection and reporting of quality, quantity, and performance of assigned Crews. The Quality Tech will be the EPC on-site representative to all sub-contractors and in-house personnel and direct daily operations according to the quality & spec guidelines/expectations set by the CM/PM for the assigned project. The Quality Tech will also be responsible for assisting other leaders and safety personnel in ensuring that all assigned crews are performing work safely and abiding by all OSHA, DOT, and EPC standards applicable to the work they are assigned; and the equipment/vehicles being used by sub-contractors are consistent with EPC standards.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Ensure that contractors are working within the guidelines and specifications set by EPC, City, and Parish permits.
- Perform Quality Control Inspections to ensure that work activities meet required quality standards (e.g., cables being buried to the correct depth in the right-of-ways).
- Inspect existing facilities such as cable splices, terminations, transformers, and other facilities as required.
- Observe the construction of cable splices and terminations while being performed.
- Conduct contractor site inspections for safety and proper DOT setup. Coordinate lane closure details with off-duty police.
- Check job sites for damage, and if found immediately report to supervisor.
- Create internal memos advising the Project Manager of any subcontractor’s negligence before the matter escalates to the client.
- Create directional bore, aerial, and fiber As-builts.
- Inspect assigned Sub-Contractors & In House Crew’s work daily.
- Review previous day’s reported quantities from assigned Sub-Contractors or In House Crews and compare to actual wheeled footages/units deployed.
- Work with Project Manager to approve weekly pay sheets for Sub-contractors.
- Wheel footages pre and post job, do random daily QA/QC checks for assigned jobs (Peds, Run Lines, HH’s, Placement, and Environment Rehab)
- Ensure work meets the standards specified in the project as-builts and typicals.
- Answer field question from Sub-Contractors
- Look ahead of current job to the next, make first contact to town/city/locators to minimize down time. Assist Construction Manager in white lining and any other task needed.
- Record all utility strikes in EPC software with pictures and statements objectively.
- Record production and report daily (study trajectories and trends) to better predict problems.
- Report general pulse/attitude of Sub-Contractors and In-house Crews.
- Required to operate company vehicles in a safe manner.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Knowledge of reading prints.
- Working knowledge of telecommunications preferred.
- At least 1 year prior experience in a structured, detail-oriented role is highly preferred.

WHAT TO EXPECT
- Outdoors environment which may require exposure to elements, including but not limited to wind, rain, heat, cold, snow, sleet, mud, etc.

- Must be able to travel to and from job locations, which may vary depending on customer and contract.
- May be required to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, or other job-related pre-hire screenings related to the job.
- Must be able to climb and carry a ladder.
- This position may be required to travel for extended, overnight stays (2 weeks consecutively).
